Saturday Night Qualifying, Oct. 15th, 2005
Qualifying night at Red River Speedway. We Qualified 4th in the time trails, which put us on the outside of the second row for the first
Qualifying Race. The first Qualifier was ran without any major problems. Finished 3rd in the first Qualifier.
The second Qualifier was started with a total invert of the finishing order of the first. That would mean, I would start next to
last row on the inside. This race was a rough one. With the slow cars starting in the front, it was a log jam
going into turn one on the start. I hugged the bottom groove and made my way to 5th about half way through. Then I was hit from behind
by an over aggressive driver, spun the car out and came to a stop at the bottom of turn 4. On the restart I Had to go to the back.
Made my way up, after several cautions for cars bumping and spinning, to finish 6th in the second Quailifier. I think every car
had front and back bumper damage after the second Qualifier, but luckly, no major damage to anyone.
Sunday Night 50 lap Feature, Oct. 16th, 2005
With out going into a confussing detail of how they came up with the starting line up, from Saturday nights Qualifying, lets just say
my starting position for the 50 lap Feature was 5th, 3rd row inside. On the drop of the green I moved into 4th place behind
Billy Becka, a TAMS Series regular driver, driving the number 0 car. And that is where I would finish after 50 laps. The top 4
cars, #14, #1, #0 and myself pulled away from the rest of the field. There were 3 cautions for minor 1 car incidents with the top 4 cars almost lapping
the entire field by the end of 50 laps.
Congratulation to the Winner, #14 car of Burney Gibson, a well deserved Win!
No, we didn't leave the camera at home this time, but, in the confusion of 2 nights of racing, it was misplaced at the track in the pits,
and vanished. We were hoping someone found it, but no one turned it in yet.
It was a fun and exciting end to a successful 2005 Season, 7 Heat Race Wins in a Row, 3 Feature Wins, 3rd Place finish in Points At RRS and a 4th at "The
North Texas Asphalt Championship Race"

This was the last night of Points at Red river Speedway. We had moved into 3rd place in points in the
"Smiley's Modified Division". We had a mathmatical chance to win the champiohship, only if 1st and 2nd
in points failed to make the heats or Feature. We ran a solid second in the Feature behind Sean Jones in the #0 car.
We ran second in the Feature and also got second in the Heat Race. But #88 Larry Hughes and #3
Brandon Pinson were able to start the heat and feature so we finished 3rd in Points at Red River Speedway for 2005.
Congragulations to #88 Larry Hughes the 2005 Track Champion.
The season is over but not the racing. Our next Race will be the "North Texas Asphalt Championships" at Red River Speedway
on Oct. 15th and 16th. I hold the track record at RRS and will defending it this fall. Hopes are I will break my own record.
We left the camera at home, again, this week, sorry no new pictures, below is the link to info on

7 Heat Race Victories in a row! But this heat race wasn't easy. I was running 3rd in the heat behind the #88 Larry Hughes
and #3 of Brandon Pinson with only 3 laps left. Going into turn 3 I decided to try the high groove to see if my car
would stick in the second groove. The #88 and #3 made contact going into turn 3, causing the #3 to check up and I passed him the outside.
Now I was on the back bumper of the #88. On the last lap I made a run under the #88 coming to the checkered Flag.
The car got a good bite coming of turn 4 heading for the finish line. I managed to pull off my 7th heat race win in a row but only
by inches. Both Larry in the #88 and myself had to wait for the officals to call the race it was soo close at the finish.
In the feature I had to start at the back due to winning the Feature last week. I worked my way up to second passing cars both on the outside and inside.
by the time I got up to second place the leader, #17 of Dwane Ford, had about a straight away lead on me. With 4 laps to go
a caution came out for #89 who spun and stalled the car in turn 2. That put me right on the back bumper of #17 with 4 laps left. I
tried a couple of runs at #17 but had to settle for second place finish in the Feature.
Over all a good night of racing and a whole lot of fun. Next week will be the last regular night of racing at Red River Speedway.
After starting late in the season at RRS, looks like we will finish 3rd in the points Championship run in 2005 at RRS.
We left the camera at home this week, sorry no new pictures, so I posted some of the cartoons from this year and past, enjoy!

3rd Feature Win at Red River Speedway and 6th Heat race Win in a row at RRS!
For the 3rd time this year we came away with another Victory in the Feature at Red River Speedway and captured our
6th heat race Win in a row. Jay also brought his #98 to RRS and finished 4th in the Feature. Good job
Jay!
I want to thank Red River Speedway's Mike Cooper, his crew, the racers and fans at RRS for being so great to us. I also

5 Heat Race Victories in a row! Won another heat race ar RRS, that keeps our string of 5 heat race victories
in a row alive.
Returning to RRS Speedway after a Feature win means only one thing, you have to start at the rear of the field in the
Feature the next week. Race went green to checkered without any yellows. Worked my way up to 3rd place and that is where I would
finish, a solid 3rd place run. Had a very fast car, but on this tight 1/4 mile track passing is very hard, I worked
the second place car #88 of Larry Hughes hard. I did everything I could to get him loose and let him know I was there
and wanting by. But Larry held his ground and refused to let me by, good run for Larry.
Before the races the modified drivers took their cars to he front straight and let the fans and kids onto the
track for an autographh session and a chance to get up close and personal with the drivers and cars. Everyone had a great
time. Below is pictures of the event as the drivers had as much fun as the kids.

An almost perfect night of racing at Red River Speedway in wichita Falls, Texas
The Practice went well, turning times around 14.50 just like last week. We did change some front end settings to get tire
tempertures better and was able to run an oustide line on the track, but times on the upper groove was about a half second slower.
We went out and won our heat race again, that makes 4 heat race wins in a row at RRS.
Front row pole of the Feature!.
Give me the front row at Red River Speedway and look out. I lead every lap of the feature for the 2nd Feature win in 2005.
Only had a slight scare in the Feature passing a lap car. Made slight contact with the outside wall on the front
straight while going around a lap car, the wall didn't win this one. Went on to pass lap car and cruise to a Victory.
Celebrated with a polish Victory lap around the track caring the checkered flag.

After last weekend in Houston it was time to head to Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls. The racers, promotor and fans at Red River
are great. We always fell welcome when we run there.
The Practice went well, turning times around 14.50's. Car was a little loose, but at RRS thats a fast car if you
are loose.
We won our Heat race again! That makes 3 heat wins in a row at RRS.
In the Feature we started at the rear, here at RRS if you Win a feature the next week you race you start on the back. The
last time we ran we won, so we had to start at the back. A couple of cautions during the race for minor spins by other cars,
put us up to third place by half way. I worked under the third place car #6 and put my sights on the leader.
I was the fastest car on the track turning times around 14.70, the leader was turning times around 15.00. I tried every move I knew on him,
inside outside, a few taps on the back bumper, but Brian in the #3 car didn't miss his marks and keep the fast lane closed. With 2 laps
to go I made one last effort to go to the out side. That didn't work and I settled for a very well deserved 2nd palce finish in the
Feature.

I was looking forward to a return trip to HMP this year. Last race we were 11th quickest in time trials.
We were good right out of the trailer. First Practice I was consistanly in the high 14's,
faster than we were the time earlier this year.
Made some ajustments for the second practice. Went out for second practice, car was immediatly tight in
turns 1 & 2. Drove off into 3 hard, car pushed hard off 4, Hello Wall! Hit the wall hard coming off turn 4.
Damage was to much to repair at track, so I became spotter for Jay in the Feature. Jay finished 17th in the
feature and kept it off the wall.
We will repair car and will probably make a race at Redriver Speedway our next stop.

AFter two 2nd place Feature finishs in the last 2 visits to Red River Speedway, I was determined to Win the Feature
at RRS This week.
The Practice and the Heat Race went great. The only problem all night was the starter jumper wire came off right
before the start of the heat. Some quick thinking by Randy, Crew Member for the #89 Modified, he jumped the starter
with a screwdriver and we went on to win the Heat.
We started front row pole for the feature, it was my race to give away and I wasn't giving it away tonight.
Lead all 20 laps of the Feature to get my first Feature win of 2005.
After the race I put my own twist on victory celebration. I took the checker flag, which the flagman gave me to
carry around on a victory lap, but instead ran through the grand stands with it getting high fives from the fans. I want to thank
Promoter Mike Cooper, his crew and all the drivers and fans at Red River Speedway, We have never been to a
track that the people are so friendly and fun to race with.
(PS: I did take that Victory Lap with the Checker Flag!)

With the TAMS race at Thunder Hill Raceway canceled, we decided to load up and pay a visit to
Mike Cooper's Red Revier Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas on Friday night June 17.
The night started a little rough, during the hot laps the car just quit. After getting pushed
back to the pits, we discovered the ignition rotor had broke. Replaced the rotor and had a good
second practice.
While staging for the heat race, I felt something wet on my right leg. Looking down I say the floor
was cover with methanol alcohol. I immediatly shut the engine off and got out. The fuel gauge sensor had
failed and was leaking under the dash. Needless to say I did not run the heat race.
Took the car back to the pits, again, and fixed the leaking fuel gauge. We had to start at the back of the
feature. On the opening lap 2 cars in front of me got together, sending both of them into the
back straight outside wall. On car flew up the wall, got airborne, tearing down about 20 feet of the fence
above the wall. In dodging the wreck one car clipped my right front and cut the tire down. I came to the pits
and the crew from the number 89 modified came over and changed the tire for me. The race was red flagged.
When the race was restarted, I worked my way up through the field to second right on the back bumper of the leader.
I had the fastest car there, but this tight one grove track made it hard to pass the leader. with very few laps
left I drove up behind the leader and bumped him to try to rattle him, maybe he would over drive or make a mistake.
I bumped him about three times, but he held his line and drove a smooth race. I made one last move on the inside
coming off turn four for the checkered flag, but came up short and finish a well deserved 2nd place. After the
race I went over and congragulated the winner and we thanked each other for a clean and close race. The most
fun I have had all year battling for the win at Red River Speedway.

When it goes bad, it really goes bad! On the first practice at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle Texas, our luck went bad.
The car started loading up on fuel, brought it to the pits immediatly.
When we checked, the float had collapsed due to a needle and seat failure. Repaired that, tried to start engine and noticed that
the intake gasket had also blown out.
The engine was not turning over smoothly so, due to the intake gasket failing and loading up on fuel, we were parked for the
night until we could do a better check of engine damage.
Upon checking the engine out at the shop, we also discovered that the distributer had failed. Carb problem, intake gasket blown
and distributor failure, whick came first, who knows.
Jay managed to qualify and start the feature but retired with handling problems. But we still managed to have some fun
During intermission we were asked to walk the stands and give away an Autographed O'Reily's Auto Part Frizbee.(O'Reily's sponsors the TAMS Series)
Will that was a good oppotunity to hand out Autographed Driver Cards to fans and kids promoting our Sponsors.
(see pictues below) Handed out about 100 cards that listed our Sponsors on the cards.
I never miss an opportunity to promote those who help us.

Made the long drive down to San Antonio Speedway for the TAMS race, took both cars to the SAS Track. The day started out
as normal, 3 practice sessions for the TAMS Modifieds. During one practice Jay got loose coming off of turn 4, kept it off the
wall, but was hit by the #48 car. There was a lot of damage to the right rear of Jay's car. The crew was able to repair
the car to start the feature, but not in time for Time trails. Jay started the back of the feature due to not qualifying,
ran several laps before retiring an ill handling car.
I qualified 13th in the 22 car field. Started the 50 lap feature on the 7th row inside. As race progressed car got looser and
looser. Was hanging on, hoping for a top ten finish when for the second race in a row, I was tagged by a car and spun.
Managed to keep it off the wall, but was sent to the back of the field. Finished the 50 lap race with a 12th place finish, with no
damage or broken pieces.
Thanks to everyone on the crew, Ben, Billy, Vince, Manuel, Angelia, Tammie, Paula and all the TAMS Officials.
After missing the first race of the year with TAMS and running the last 2, we have jumped to 15th in points. Have hopes of breaking into
the Top Ten in points after the next race at Thunder Hill Speedway on May 14th.

Got the car put back together from Redriver and headed down to Houston to run our first TAMS race of 2005
The car was pretty good right out of the trailer. Got to run 4 practice sessions. The first 2 we were turning laps in the high 15's,
15.60 to 15.90. The third and forth practices we got into the low 15's with a 15.25 being our quickest of the day.
Made a few more changes before qualifying in hopes it would improve our lap times. Then it was time to qualify, I was the 11th car out to qualify in a field
of 21 modifieds that showed up. Don't know if the changes helped or I just drove a little harder. But I managed to turn a
lap at 14.94 which qualified us in the 11th starting position. We were very happy with the qualifying. Picked up over .30
over what we had practice.
The weather was perfect for racing at this beautful race track. Had a great time with the pre-race ceromonies then it was time to race.
Had several cautions and one red flag for a blown engine but stayed on the lead lap and ran in 9th and 10th most of the night.
The car was a little loose at the first due to the heavy fuel load we started with, but car got better as the race went on.
With 16 laps to go and holding on to 9th place, the 10th place car ran into the back of us going into turn 1, spinning me around to a stop.
The caution came out, but the bad part was I had to go to the back of the line up on the restart with only 16 laps left.
Managed to move up and get around some slow cars to finish 13th place. The driver who got into me came over right after the race and
apologized, said it was his fault and he felt really bad about it. Apology accepted no hard feelings and I plan on showing him respect for coming down
and saying that, Great Sportsmanship.
Over all a very good night, loaded car up in one piece with only minor damage to back bumper. Engine performed flawless, the whole
crew did great.

Headed to Redriver Speedway for their opening night for 2005. We had high hopes of breaking the
existing track record I set last year. Got the car ready and rolled out for hotlaps, car was working good, new 2 barrell set up was
working fine. First few clean laps I was turning in the mid 14's, caught the number 1 car and was waiting for an
opportunity to make a pass, then it happened.
The number 8 car lost an engine coming off turn 4 and oiled down the track all the way down the front straightaway. The
number 89 car spun down the front stretch tagging the rear of the number 8 and the outside wall. I saw the smoke and car spinning as I came off turn 4 behind
the number 1 car. Started
braking to slow down, but I was in the oil and water. I tagged the outside wall with the right front.
The night was already over and we had just got started. Broke the right front spindle, shock and wheel. Everyone at Redriver
Speedway was soo nice. The driver that blew offered any parts off his car that we could use, but no one had the correct spindle we
needed.
So we loaded up and watched as cars rolled out on the track to try to break my track record. When the time trails ended,
no one had managed to break my record.
I'll get to come back in the fall for the North Texas Asphalt Championship and defend my track record again. We will take
the car back to the shop and try to get the parts and money to make the TAMS show in Houston next saturday 4/9/05.

Got to test both cars a Redriver Speeedway in Wichita Falls, Texas. Tested on the slicks,
which is what we are changing over to on the 19 car. My track record I set last year was 14.75, We were
turning laps around 14.15 consistantly all day. Very happy with car. Did have a little problem,
the right rear brake rotor broke, but nothing major.
Jay's car ran great also, he was consistantly in the mid 14's all day. At the end of the day veryone got to take a
few laps in Jay's car. Ben, Billy, Scott and Tom all got to run some laps. It was a fun and productive day of testing.
Now we are ready to start the season. My first race will be April 2nd at Redriver Speedway to
defend my track record, then Jay and I both race on April 9th in Houston with the TAMS Series.
