With over 100 cars in the pits for the North Texas Asphalt Championship Race
on a beautiful sunny but cool day, a full day of racing was ahead at River Speedway.
Practice would start at 10am on this cool morning, Marc was one of the first up to take advantage of an open track.
"The car was running great." Marc said after practice, "but our draw for starting position wasn't as good."
All cars had to draw for a starting position in the 15 lap qualifying Features. Marc had drawn 48 out of 50 numbers.
The 50 lap feature line up would be determined by 2 15 lap qualifiers. The finish of the first 15 lap qualifier
would determine the inside row, the second 15 lap qualifier would make up the outside row of the Feature.
By drawing #48, Marc would start dead last in the first 15 lap qualifier.
Marc would need a little luck to get a good finish in the Qualifying Feature on this very tight track.
Marc would move up through the field all the way up to 3rd, Going into turn 1 the #33 of Brad Boyd would
get into the back of Marc hard, sending #19 Modified up the track. Marc was able to keep the car off the wall
but not before #33 would get by for 3rd putting Marc back to 4th. The white flag was just coming out when
the 2nd place car #48 of Rick Wycough would lose it spinning in front of #33 and Marc. Marc managed to miss
Rick, but the #33 of Boyd would spin to the infield as the yellow would fly. The restart would be a green white checkered
with Marc now starting in second behind race leader #3 of Brandon Pinson. Marc would make one last charge at the
Checkers but would fall short by a half car and settle for a very lucky 2nd place finish.
The 50 lap feature line up would find Marc starting on the second row inside behind #3 of Pinson. At the drop of the
green, Marc would tuck in behind Pinson for second. Brandon and Marc would run 1st and 2nd for the rest of the 50 lap
Feature. "I tryed to get under Brandon on a couple of the restarts." Marc would say after the race, "but
Brandon held his line. We missed the setup on our car just a little, the car had a push coming off the turns. That push
cost us a win tonight, But I am very happy to end the season with a 2nd place finish."

was there," Madison would later say, "I just don't think I got far enough up beside him." The 2 cars
would touch going into turn 3. The contact damaged the steering on Madison's car, he was able to continue the
race but with a very ill handling car. Madison went on to finish the feature in 7th place on the lead lap with

Marc holds on to point lead inspite losing engine in Heat Race and not getting to start Feature at Red River Speedway.
Heat race action would be the only action Madison would see on Friday night at Red River Speedway for the second time this
year. Madison started at back of the heat race and work his way up to 4th before a small puff of smoke from the engine would
appeared. "I saw a small trail of smoke from the valve cover breathers," Madison said later."I quickly checked my
gauges in the car and saw the oil pressure dropping. I immedialy shut the engine down and managed to get the car off the
track." Even though there appeared to be no damage to the engine, it was determined the engine would need to come out and
be looked at closer.
"The month of July has been a rough month," Madison said. "This was the only engine we have and with 3 nights
left in the season this takes away our big points lead we had."Madison, who had almost a 300 point lead at the first of
this month, was cut to 100 points over the second place car #48 of Rick Wycough who went on to a 3rd place finish in the
Feature Friday night.
Saturday morning a phone called would bring life back to the team. Tom Lorenz of
Smiley's Racing
came through with an engine that the team could use to help finish the season while the teams engine could be pulled and examined
and keep the hopes for the Championship alive!
(see pictures below)
"I am so grateful to Tom, my racing partner and best friend, Jay Guthrie, my wife, Tammie and all my Sponsors that
help out. Without the help and encouragement of these wonderful people it would not be possible to be leading in the points
and still have a chance to win the champonship."

In heat race action Madison would start at back and would not improve his starting spot as he fought an ill handling car right
from the green flag. After getting airborne the week before and having to repair all the rear suspension, there was some hidden
damage in the rear driveline. "The car was loose and had a very bad wheel hop and vibration half way down the straights."
Madison would later say.
Madison and his crew worked hard trying to find and fix the problem before the start of the Feature. In the 20 lap feature,
Madison would again start from the rear due to being the point leader. (Feature line up is by points, point leader starts at
rear) "I knew right at the start the problem was still there." Madison said. "The car was loose and the vibration
was still there." Madison would move up to 5th place half way through the feature dispite the driveline problems. The #11 of Troy Stafford and the #48
of Rick Wycough were battling hard for the lead up front. Stafford and Wycough would touch coming off turn 4, spinning to
the bottom of the track bring out the yellow flag. This would move Madison up to 3rd on the restart. Madison would go on and
finish 3rd behind Feature Winner #89 of Steve McCreary and 2nd place finisher #14 Burney Gibson. "We are going to have to
get the car back to the shop, take the rearend apart and try to find the problem before next week." Madison said after
the Feature. "I am very happy and pleased to come away with a 3rd place finish tonight."

Marc holds on to point lead inspite not getting to start Feature at Red River Speedway.
Heat race action would be the only action Madison would see on Friday night at Red River Speedway.
On the opening lap of the heat, Madison entered turn 1 on the low side with the #48 of Rick Wycough on the outside,
Madison and Wycough would touch going into turn 1 causing Wycough to spin, coming down the track into Madison.
The two cars would hit, launching the #19 of Madison over the front end of Wycough. (see photo sequence above) Madison
would get some serious air time coming down hard on the rear of the car. The impact of the landing was so hard it
destroyed the rear suspension links, drivehsaft and shocks. Ending the night for Madison.
"It was a case of 2 cars going for the same real estate at the same time." Madison would later say."I know Rick felt bad about
the accident, and I want to thank Rick for coming to the shop the next day to help fix the car." Wycough would only
suffered minor damage and went on to finish 4th in the Feature later that night

On the Opening lap of Heat race action Marc Madison in the #19 Modified broke a left rear drive axle on the drop of the green flag.
The axle sheared off clean at the drive plate. After roaming the pits looking for another axle, the realization of not
being able to repair the left rear axle was for sure. Rick Wycough in the #48 Modified went on to Win the 2nd Heat while the 1st Heat
winner was the #3 of Brandon Pinson.
In the 20 lap feature, Madison decided to start the feature, in the back, with the right rear tire being the only wheel that would be pulling.
The plan was to ride around at a safe speed to pick up as many points as possible. as the 20 lap feature progressed, there
were a couple of long yellows, mechanical failures, cars in the pits laps down for repairs as well as a black flag for rough driving.
After all the dust settled, Madison manage to bring the injured #19 Modified home to a 5th place finish by riding around and staying
out of trouble. The Winner, for his second Feature Win this year, was the #11 of Troy Stafford, 2nd went to #14 of Burney
Gibson, 3rd was #06 Nicole Torrez, 4th #48 of Wycough and Madison rounding out the Top 5 nursing the crippled #19 home.
Congratulations to Troy Stafford and his team for their 2nd Feature Win this year.

The chase for the "Smiley's Asphalt Modified Championship" at Red River Speedway continued on a warm and humid
night of racing action.
In heat race action Marc started last row outside behind the #48 car of Rick Wycough. Marc moved up to 5th place while
side by side action took place in front with #89 of Steve McCreary, #3 of Brandon Pinson, #48 of Wycough and #14

of McCreary came together going into turn 1. Both cars lost control, spun to the outside of the track taking the #14 of
Gibson with them into the oustide wall. The #48 of Wycough and Madison missed the wreck and pulled away as the yellow flag flew.
The race was red flagged while the track crew cleaned up the wreckage. On the restart the only car able to return from the
wreck was the #89 of McCreary. It would be a green white checkered restart was a single file restart. #48 of Wycough in front followed
by Madison, #33 of Brad Boyd and #89 of McCreary. As the field took the white flag Madison made a move to the inside taking
advange of Wycough as he got loose off of turn 4. Madison pulled ahead coming off of turn 2 for the win.
In the 20 lap feature, #3 of Pinson was late making the line up and was put on the back, letting Madison get to start the
front row outside beside the #33 of Boyd. The opening lap say Madison and Boyd run side by side with Madison running the high side
and Boyd on the bottom. Both driver ran side by side until going into turn 1 on the second lap, Boyd's #33 pushed on the bottom, causing Boyd to
lift of the gas just long enough for Madison to take the lead. One caution would fly in the feature for a spin. The race would resume
with Madison leading the remaining laps for his 5th Feature Win of the year followed by #3 of Pinson, the #48 of Wycough, the #33
of Boyd would end up in forth with

One of the fun things about celebrating a feature win
at Red River Speedway is the fans get to come out on the track and see the feature winning car and driver. Kids
of all ages get to sit in the car, take pictures and talk to the drivers.

Marc extends his point lead in the Smiley's Asphalt Modified Championship at Red River Speedway.
Heat race action would see #98 of Jay Guthrie hold off a charge by the #11 of Troy Stafford for his first Heat race win in 2006. With
Guthrie on the inside, Stafford would try lap after lap to pass the #98 on the outside with Guthire holding on for the win

Madison would hold on to finish 5th in the heat.
In the 20 lap feature, #11 of Troy Stafford would start on the pole. When the green flag flew, Stafford would lead the pack into turn 1.

A warm and windy night for some exciting racing at Red River Speedway.
In heat race action we started at the back, cars were all bunched up at the drop of the green. The #3 of Brandon Pinson took
an early lead and started to pull away as the rest of the field was running side by side behind the #6 car of
Ryan Feller. going into turn 3, Ryan got a little loose, over corrected, causing #48 of Rick Wycough to hit Ryan. Ryan's car
took a hard right hand turn in the middle of turns 3 and 4, turning directly in the the path of The #14 Burney Gibson,
sending both the #6 and #14 cars head on into the outside wall. I was able to miss the wreck by diving to the inside in turns 3 & 4.
The race was red flaged to clean up the wreck as both Ryan and Burney were done for the night with severe damage to both cars.
Both driver were unhurt, but the 2 cars would not be able to race the remainder of the night.
When raced resumed, I held on to a 2nd place finish in the heat behind #3 of Brandon Pinson.
In the 20 lap feature, #48 of Rick Wycough would take the lead at the start with #3 of Pinson running the outside lane
putting pressure on Rick for the lead. I had moved into 3rd behind Rick and Brandon, coming off of turm 4, Rick's car pushed
up the track forcing Brandon to lift and opening the door for me to make an inside run on Rick. I got the inside lane going into
turn 1, #3 of Brandon fell in hehind the #19 Modified as Rick fell back to 3rd. Only 1 caution flag fly for the #11 modified
who did a solo spin coming off turn 2. I was able to hold on to the lead for the 3rd Feature win this year in the Smiley's Modified divison
at Red River Speedway, followed by the #3 of Pinson and #48 of Wycough.

After 2 weeks of the racing at RRS being cancelled due to weather,
a full night of exciting racing action took place under clear
skies and and a warm night.
Starting in the second Heat on the front row inside with the #14 of Burney Gibson on the outside,
we were able to get the lead on the drop of the green flag
and hold on for the win in our heat followed by Gibson right on our back bumper.
In the 20 lap Smiley's Modified Feature we would have to start near the rear of the field.
We were able to work up through the field to 4th place behind the #48 of Rick Wycough
Hung onto the back bumper of Wycough as he made passes on the second place #6 car of Ryan Feller,
then the #6 car of Nacole Torrez, following Wycough to the front running second on his bumper.
Tried a couple of times to get under the #48, used my bumper a few times to let him know I was there,
but Rick was not going to give up the lead. In trying to pass Rick, heated up the right front tire,
the car starting to develope a push. With 2 laps to go, I could see #14 of Burney Gibson closing in from behind,
and held on to second place finish at the end of the 20 lap Feature.
In post race tech the #48 of Rick Wycough was under weight and was disqualified,
giving the Feature win to us and second going to Gibson.
Rick Wycouch, who probably ran the best race of his carreer, was denied Victory due to car being 9 lbs Light.
I want to Congratulate Rick on his performance and job well done.
With Feature Win and Heat Race Win, we had a clean sweep for the night.
That also put us in the points lead in the "Smiley's Asphalt Modified Division" at RRS.

In the Heat race started at the back, because of a high point average, moved up to Finish 3rd in the Heat behind the #14 of Burney
Gibson and the #48 of Rick Wycough.
In the Feature started 2nd row inside behind #14 of Burney, Burney jumped out in the lead from the drop of the green flag. I followed
Burney into second with #48 of Rick in 3rd. With a couple of cautions to keep the field bunch up, we would finish 2nd behind Bueny
and Rick behind us. We missed the chassis set up, car had a push all night. Couldn't mount up any kind of challenge on
the #14 car and settle for second best. Not a bad night overall, we will work out the handling problem for the next race
which will be in 2 weeks on April 28th. The Modifieds are off next week at RRS.
During intermission. myself and other drivers took their helmets and went through the stands collecting money for Billy, a track
worker who is in need of a lung and heart transplant. (see pics below) We were able to collect almost $500 for Billy and his Family. Thanks to all the
fans, drivers & crews for their donations. Our Prayers and thoughts are with Billy and his family.

Friday April 7th at Red River Speedway. Second night of racing at RRS and a cold front blew in, it was cold, but the the racing
was HOT!
Since I was feature winning last week, I would be starting from the rear tonight. In the Heat race I manage to move up into second behind
the #14 car of Burney Gibson. Had a caution for a spin late in the race, that would would put me right in the back bumper of the #14 for
the restart. Stayed glued to Burney's bumper to finish second in the heat.
In the Feature, I worked my way up to 3rd following the #06 of Nacole Torrez & #14 car. Burney made a move on the outside of the #06, that
opened the inside groove. I pulled up on Nacole's back bumper and #14 fell back to third. I worked on Nacole for several laps
before getting under her in turn 2 and taking the lead. Burney got back around Nacole a few laps later. A red flag came out for the
#89 car of James Blanton who hit the wall hard on the front straight, James was OK. On the restart I held Burney off for my second Feature win of the year,
or did I?
In the post race tech, I was informed the car was a 1/4 of an inch to low in the left rear frame area. The rule calls for 4"
ground clearance. Jay & I have set the ride height at 4 1/8" in the left rear without driver in car. The track measured it with me in the car
(I know, I need to loose some weight!),
which would be a little lower with my weight. We were DQ'd and lost the win. After checking rule book, it doesn't say with or without driver,
just 4" clearence? We have appealed the ruling on the basis this is a gray area in the rules and are waiting for a decision. I want to thank the
track and officials for doing a great job on teching and following the rules, this is just one of those Gray areas. I am sure that the
track and our race team will work through this issue and correct it.
NOTE: The 2nd and 3rd place cars passed the scales and went to their pits. With the first 3 cars being DQ'd, this gave the win
to #3 Modified of Brandon Pinson. What a wild night!

Friday March 31st, Opening Night at Red River Speedway. For 2 weeks Opening Night at RRS 2006 was cancelled due to weather.
But tonight the sky cleared and a wonderful night for racing took place.
Finally, after all winter, it was time to strap in and stand on the gas. This year RRS is running a "Dash For Cash" each night. Modifieds
were chosen for opening night and a random draw of 4 cars to run 5 laps were chosen. This would be the first race of the night. Our number
was drawn and I started 2nd row inside for the start.
On the start I tucked in behind the #89 of James Blanton for 5 laps and finished second behind James.
On opening night all cars had to draw for starting positions in the heats. I started front row outside in the second heat. Got a good
start and took the lead going into turn one, went on to win the second heat.
That would put me on the outside of the front row starting next to the #89 James, who won the first qualifying Heat. Again, I got a good
start at the green flag for the start of the 20 lap feature.I took the lead going into turn one and started slowly pulling away from the field.
Several cautions for minor spins kept the field bunched up and put the #14 Holden Auto Repair car of Burney Gibson, on my back bumper. Burney
had a good car and stayed glued on my back bumper. With about 4 laps to go Burney made a move on the outside going into
turn one, lost the back end of the car and backed hard into the outside wall in the middle of one and two. Burney was OK but
the car wasn't. With no pressure from behind, I was able to take the Skylark Airport Express #19 to Victory in the 20 lap feature
for the opening night at RRS. Thanks to C&S Trailer World, Valvoline & Ultra-shield for their continued support in 2006 and to my wife Tammie,
for doing a great job as my spotter in the race.

Sunday March 5th was Speed Sunday at Bible Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. This has become an Annual Event at the
church with a combined car show and Sunday Morning Church Service. Pastor of the church, Mike Rucker, is a racer himself known
as the "Flying Preacher", be sure to visit his website. (Link above)
Had a good time, the service was Great. There was a silent auction and drawings for free racing hats, t-shirts, etc.. during service.
Pastor Mike brought a wonderful message in his sermon along with songs of praise. After the service everyone went out to the street
for the car show, food and fun. Jay won 1st place in the Modified Division part of the car show.
After all the fun and food Promotor Mike Cooper open up the race track for a free afternoon of practice for all who
participated in Speed Sunday. Practice went well for both #19 & #98 car. Rick Wycough showed up to take his first laps on
asphalt. Jay & Marc have been helping Rick prepare his car. Rick was pleased and excited about running asphalt in 2006.

We were invited to participate in the filming of a TV commercial for Red River Speedway by promoter Mike Cooper on March 3rd,
2006. The commercial will run on Time Warner Cable in the North Texas area. Along with us was the car #14 normally driven by
Burney Gibson. Burney was out of town, so race regular at RRS, Buddy Morgan was the pilot for the filming.
Also, while we were there, we participated in the filming of a TV commercial for our NEW sponsor, SKYLARK AIRPORT EXPRESS, who has
come on board for 2006. The filming consisted of letting the Skylark Express Van pass up the middle, splitting #19 & #14, in
the commercial. Promoter Mike Cooper piloted the Skylark Express Van for the filming. (see pictures below)
Thanks to promotor Mike Cooper, Skylark Airport Express and a special thanks to Randy Holden and his Wife for taking Marc and Tammie out to eat
that afternoon for their Wedding Anniversary. Thats right Friday March 3rd was Marc and Tammie's Wedding Anniversary.

Had a great time at Red River Speedway Awards Banquet on Friday Night. Great food, Texas Roadhouse Sirloin Steak,
Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans and Dessert. Had drawings for prizes, I didn't win anything but Tammie won a gift certificate for
Chili's. Had fun bench racing with all the racers, crews and thier families.
I received a nice pewter plaque for 3rd place in points for 2005. (see picture below) After the Banquet, Randy Holden, owner
of the #1 & #14 Modifieds, invited Tammie and I over to watch the video of the Texas Asphalt Championship race with them and
