Marc takes 8th in hard fought Feature at Thunder Hill Raceway. "They always say that some of the hardest
racing," Marc would say after the race, "is the race for 6th, 7th or 8th, after tonights 50 laps, I believe that!"
Marc had his hands full with handling problems and some over heating to over come to finish in 8th at THR.
"We are really struggling with the right set up", Marc would say later, "with all the changes we had to make
and not having run at THR, we need to work on the car and the driver, me, to be more competitive here."
Jay Guthrie also made the long drive south to race at THR. Jay was having a good smooth run until an oil leak.
Jay managed to finish 12th in the feature despite the oil leak. Thanks to Vince Wagliardo and Ben Reeder for
taking the trip with us to help out on the crew.

Marc made his first appearance at Thunder Hill Raceway in 2007. "After making a Team decision to
to run at THR," said Marc, "We had to do some major changes to the car to pass Tech in the
Pro Modified Division there." Those included adding weight to the car, adding Mufflers,
changing over to gas and run the track tires were just some of the changes required to pass Tech.
After getting through Tech Marc went out for the 1st Practice session. Marc did not even make 1 lap
before ignition problems shut the engine down. They were able to repair the problem and run the 2nd
session of practice. "The practice went well", Marc would say later, "To bad the rains came, we had
made some chassis adjustments and was lookind forward to another run." Marc was running about .50 seconds
off the fastest times in practice.
Marc had a special crew member with him at THR who was a big help, Nikolas, his oldest grandson was there.
(see pics below) Marc would also like to thank Shelma Walton of
J & S Promotions
for making it possible to run at THR and to the Promoter Mary Ann and her staff at
THR for making us feel welcome.

First Race of 2007 came on a beautiful night at Wichita Speedway. Marc took the first laps in the
"Smiley's Racing" Sponsored #19 Modified during practice at laps "It felt good to get
behind the wheel after the long off season." Marc said. "The car performed well in practice."
Marc started in the back of the Heat Race, Marc quickly move up, and would finish in 4th place in the heat.
"The car was loose on exit and entering the turn" Marc would say after the heat."Over all a
successful first run, no mechanical problems at all"
In the 20 lap Feature, Marc would start in the 6th position, 3rd row outside. The feature would see only one caution
for the #89 car doing a solo spin in turn 4, right in front of Marc. Marc avoided contact with the #89 car and lined
up for a restart. On the restart Marc was running 5th behind the #14 Burney Gibson, while up front, #48 Rick Wycough,
along with #3, Brandon Pinson was pulling away from the field. Marc followed the #14 around the #11 car coming off turn
4 and moved into 4th. The 2 leaders had put a straight away lead on the #14 and Marc before both of them could get around
the #11 car. Both Marc and Burney were able to run the leaders down with 5 laps left. All 4 cars took the white Flag and
you could have thrown a blanket over them under the flag stand. Coming of turn 4 for the checkered flag, it was almost
a side by side finish. All 4 cars crossing the finish line almost 2 by 2 less than a car length apart. #48 Rick Wycough
would come out the Winner, #3 of Brandon Pinson 2nd, #14 Burney Gibson 3rd and Marc finishing 4th"I made a minor adjustment
on the car after the heat." Marc would say after the feature. "The car performed Great, It took me a few laps to
find where the car worked best on the track, but when I did, we closed fast on the leaders. Congratulations to Rick & his
Team for thier First win in 2007"
